Making Manu Tukutuku

We are making manu tukutuku in our class. Manu tukutuku are Maori kites.  We are making them to fly for Matariki. I went down by the side of my class to get my flax and toetoe. We shredded the the flax up into little ropes to tie the toe toe in to a shape like a kite. Miss Rainey brought in some raupo from her neighbour’s lake. She dried them then brought them to school so we can put it on top of the kite. It took a lot of work to do the kite.

Epro8

On Wednesday we did an EPro 8 competition with some people from each class. In an EPro8 set there are different shape poles and nuts and bolts. There are pieces which make the poles stick together. My group made a crane. It could lift a chair and 1 kilogram.  Our group came third in the competition. I really like building EPro8 and our team worked well toether.
